Family Guy 10.10 “Meg and Quagmire” Review
During the week’s episode of Family Guy, Meg became an adult. The Griffins celebrated their daughters step into womanhood by taking her to the Teen Choice Awards and attempting to preserve her childhood. The show definitely deserves some bit of salute or congratulation for having paid homage to the stated awards. The show’s version of the awards was pretty convincing, right from the teenage girls drooling over Robert Pattison, to the host of the show. All in all, it is amazing that the bosses of the show decided to include these particular awards at this point in the show. It definitely gave the show a new feel and made viewers feel how fast Meg has grown up.

The focus of the episode was on Meg and Quagmire, two characters in the show who seldom interact. Meg is depicted as the lonely teenager, who is starved for some male attention, while Quagmire is depicted as a womanizer. The combination of the two opposite characters was a success and it did not take the creepy aspect of it too far. The fact that Quagmire tries to seduce Meg by text and his attempt to act like a teenager is quite funny. It is a bit weird that Quagmire is open to the fact that teenage relationships mostly happen by text and on facebook.
The episode had a nice touch about it when the Griffins got involved more in the budding affair, which is different from their normal lack of affection for Meg. In this episode, Peter and Lois acted like very concerned parents. Lois played her wise mother card, as Peter was not cool with the idea of his daughter being with someone as shady and unpolished as Quagmire. It is certainly interesting to see how these parents who have not been paying much attention to their daughter feel the need to protect her as soon as she becomes an adult.
It is safe to state that the show Family Guy is off to a good start this New Year. All the characters are back with a twist and they all seem to be involved with each other. Things are changing for the better. However, the best thing about this episode was the fact that the show featured the Teen Choice Awards, which was totally appropriate in the circumstances. In addition, Meg’s involvement with Quagmire has also given the show some sense of danger and mystery, as we wonder if Meg will truly fall for Quagmire’s charm and if her parents will have anything to do about it. It was also interesting to watch Meg become an adult and how her parents felt the need to be more involved in her life at this point.
