Univision Televion Group’s Telefutura is getting a major facelift. Aside from having a new senior vice president in Luis Fernández-Rocha and with Carlos Bardasano being the new vice president of programming and original productions, TV host Charytin will have a new chat show.
But what’s this we hear about “Family Guy” going habla espanol? Yes, folks, you heard that right. Part of the Telefutura facelift is the Peter Griffin and the gang speaking Spanish during primetime.
Univision Studios president and president of entertainment Luis Fernández expressed his optimism on these upcoming changes, especially with the recent appointment of Fernández-Rocha and Bardasano. His faith in their capabilities springs from their deep understanding of what makes the Hispanic community in the US tick. Their track records, proof of their experience and competence in the entertainment industry, especially in that specific demographic, make them the most obvious choices to steer Telefutura into the future and into even greater heights.
Fernández-Rocha will be directly under Fernández. He will be handling the supervision all of Telefutura Network’s operations, while Bardasano will be working on the entertainment programming side of things and reporting directly to Fernández-Rocha. The new line-up of shows and programming will simply be the start of these two’s efforts to bring the network into more prominence. Fernández-Rocha will be drawing on his more than 25 years of experience in Spanish-language broadcasting, having recently been the senior vice president and regional director of the southeast operations of Univision. Before that, he was also the vice president and general manager of WLTV 23 and WAMI 69.
Bardasano – who got his start with Universal Studios’ NBC sitcoms – was formerly with the Spanish management media Kastuera as one of its managing directors. His extensive resume also includes serving as entertainment vice president for Telemundo and then vice president of programming development for Univision.
Both Fernández-Rocha and Baradasano will be based in Miami, Florida.
